DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 3992B, World War II era Navigation Master Watch made for Canadian military use, 22J, 16S, .800 silver OF original case with contract markings to rear, deeply stamped additional markings of C.H.S. 3 (Canadian Hydrographic Services class 3 designation), Canadian Ministry of Defence (English spelling) pheon and s# to rear, white enamel dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour indications, dial also with applied paper label marked with s#, SW-hack-set with sweep-seconds, fully capped lever escapement, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, mvt marked "U.S. Gov't," striped pattern nickel damascene, mvt s#3C2472 with matching serial number stamped to case rear as well as marked to applied paper dial label. Watch comes with a fitted wooden box with Hamilton signature plaque to its front. An excellent original example of this Canadian Navy version of the 3992B which is quite a bit scarcer than the equivalent supplied to the British Navy.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good hacking function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with short fine scratch at 6, some spots of wispy haze to areas of dial glaze evident in reflected light; nearly mint hands; case shows light wear, an attractive overall patina with some splotchy somewhat darker areas at portions of rear perimeter, no dents or dings, good contract marking detail; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal; box shows light wear, some mild scratches and dings, a fracture runs the length of its underside, signature plaque shows medium wear and some fading.
